Evaluating Innovative Practices to Improve Student Services

A New York Community College received funding to implement a campus-based resource center, the Community Care Hub (CCH). The CCH is designed to connect students to services and resources offered by the college, public agencies, and community-based partners to address non-academic needs, such as food and housing insecurity among students.

Hezel Associates was hired to conduct an evaluation of the CCH to understand the program’s contribution to student outcomes, such as academic performance, retention, and completion. Hezel Associates will use existing program data, and two program-specific questionnaires, that will generate understandings about the CCH’s service delivery process, as well as any changes in students’ risk factors, knowledge about services, and help-seeking attitudes and behaviors.
