Strengthening the New Teacher Pipeline

Fourteen colleges in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota, with funding from the Bush Foundation, partnered around a common goal: to improve the training and education of aspiring teachers. This group, Network for Excellence in Teaching (NExT), seeks to bolster the pipeline of new teachers in the region by fostering successful recruitment and placement strategies, effective education programs, and robust support systems.

To continually improve their efforts, NExT partnered with Hezel Associates to develop, administer and analyze a series of surveys for students at various stages in their education, graduates of the teaching programs, and supervisors of those new teachers. In addition to providing useful information regarding teacher abilities and needs over several years, our team helped to improve the surveys each year through validity and reliability analyses. Hezel Associates was an integral partner, ultimately supporting data-driven decision making for the NExT group.
