Ready to Teach Algebra Evaluation (2005)

Ready To Teach Algebra is an online professional development program to support mathematics teachers, created jointly by Concord Consortium's Seeing Math Telecommunications Project and the PBS TeacherLine Project, with funding from the U.S. Department of Education. The overall goal of Ready To Teach Algebra is, "To improve student achievement by developing high quality, standards-based digital professional development to teachers and by developing high quality, standards-based digital classroom content."

In response to the US Department of Education's renewed interest in quantitative research, the Concord Consortium (www.concord.org) engaged Hezel Associates as quantitative evaluator and presented us with a quasi-experimental research design to assess the impact of the RTT materials on teachers and students. The charge was to take measures of teacher and student content learning, developed by the program, and analyze the data to assess the impact of the RTT materials on teachers and students in terms of content learning and pedagogical change.
