Cornell University's Southeast Asia Program USED: NRC Evaluation (2010 - 2013)

In August 2010, Cornell University’s (www.cornell.edu) Southeast Asia Program (SEAP) received funding through the U.S. Department of Education’s (ED) National Resource Center (NRC) Program cornell(under Title VI, Part A). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the implementation and impact of SEAP’s NRC activities throughout the 2010-2014 grant cycle. SEAP contracted Hezel Associates as the third party evaluator to help provide evidence of the impact SEAP is having on acquiring Southeast Asian expertise and positions, revitalizing Indonesian Studies to increase individual and institutional engagement as well as academic understanding of Muslim areas, internationalizing Cornell University curriculum, targeting new K-12 populations, and raising public awareness and increased knowledge of Southeast Asia.

As evaluators, Hezel Associates was responsible for developing and executing an evaluation plan including developing instruments, both surveys and interview protocols and establishing data needs and sources. Hezel Associates conducted analysis with data collected from surveys, interviews, the registrar, and SEAP Annual Report. The evaluation was provided to SEAP in the form of formative and summative reporting, progress updates, and consistent client communication.
