Manchester Community College (MCC; www.manchestercc.edu) has been awarded a grant by the United States Department of Labor (US DOL) to be the lead institution for a Connecticut state-wide initiative. The Connecticut Advanced Manufacturing Initiative (CAMI) project, supported by a US DOL Round IV Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) grant, aims to introduce new advanced manufacturing programs in mechatronics, machining, and welding to colleges throughout the state. MCC will lead 13 partner institutions to successfully train individuals to fill high-skill, high-wage jobs in advanced manufacturing.
Hezel Associates, LLC has been contracted by MCC to conduct an external evaluation of this project in order to monitor implementation, provide formative feedback for project improvements, and assess the effectiveness of the project in terms of achieving its goals for students. Hezel Associates will use a quasi-experimental, matched participant design with a comparison cohort to assess the impact of CAMI activities on desired career and educational outcomes.
