NOAA Project Evaluates Success of Professional Development Program for K-12 Science Teachers
The Hezel evaluation team has recently been working with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to evaluate curriculum and professional development activities with regard to the agency’s ability to disseminate critical information to students and teachers. Hezel’s assessment will help NOAA increase the visibility of ocean exploration, science, and education activities to educators, students, and the general public through web-based and printed media.

PBS TeacherLine is an online learning environment accessible to K-16 teachers that includes facilitated modules, or mini-courses, in professional development. Modules are offered through local PBS member stations and are designed by experts in the fields of teaching, mathematics and technology integration. The PBS TeacherLine project is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Hezel Associates serves as the lead evaluator on the project, in collaboration with the Education Alliance and Syrtis.
Hezel President Offers DETC Members Strategic Planning Workshop
The Distance Education and Training Council invited Hezel’s president, Dr.Richard T. Hezel, to present at their annual conference in Maui, Hawii. Dr. Hezel’s presentation, "Shining the Torch on the Night Path: Strategic Planning for the Real World of DETC Schools" offered real world techniques for developing strategic plans that move the organization from possibilities to realities. With plenty of examples, he demonstrated how the strategic plan integrated into the culture and the day-to-day operations contributes to a strong organization capable of weathering economic storms, pursuing the dream waves of opportunity, and illuminating the path to long-standing success.

Betsy
Bedigian has joined Hezel Associates as the Marketing and Public Relations
Manager. In her position, Bedigian will oversee the development and implementation
of the marketing and communications strategy for Hezel Associates, including
new business development. Previously, Bedigian worked for the account services
and public relations departments at MRA, a full-service advertising agency
based in Syracuse. During her tenure she was responsible for implementation
of marketing and public relations on behalf of clients such as Welch Allyn
and the Wireless Foundation, and was a member of the award winning Donate
a Phone public relations team. A native of Syracuse, Bedigian received a
bachelor’s of science degree in business administration and management
from Le Moyne College. Ready to get her feet wet in world of education technology,
Bedigian was recently asked to serve on NUTN (National University Telecommunications
Network) annual conference marketing committee in San Antonio, TX.
Jennifer Reed joined Hezel Associates as Administrative and Research Assistant. In her position, Reed will receive and direct incoming calls, coordinate office administration and provide technology and research support to staff. Reed previously worked as Administrative Assistant to the Grand Secretary for the Grand Lodge of Ohio, F& AM., Worthington Ohio. Reed also worked for Kropf, Wagner, Hoherberger and Lutz, L.L.P. as legal secretary, Orrville, OH. Reed is a graduate of Otterbein College, holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology.

of 2003 Leadership Greater
Syracuse. Leadership Greater Syracuse is a non-profit organization that
trains individuals to become leaders in the Greater Syracuse community.
Since 1991, LGS has assembled diverse groups of citizens who share the interests
of developing their leadership skills and improving their community.
