Hezel Associates Completes Community Survey for United Way of Central New York
The United Way of Central New York provides millions of dollars to more than one hundred human services organizations in each three-year funding cycle. In preparation for the 2005-2008 funding cycle, Hezel Associates recently completed a three-phase community-wide survey for the United Way to identify the key impact areas in the Syracuse community where funds should be allocated.
The research included focus group interviews with local human service providers, a survey of community organization leaders to identify at risk populations, and a broad survey of United Way donors, funded organizations, and Onondaga County residents. All of the research was conducted with a goal to obtain feedback from the community about the service areas where the greatest needs exist in Onondaga County.
“We rely on the feedback from the community to help us determine where our funding can have the most positive impact,” Mary Beth Frey, vice president of Community Impact at the United Way, said. “Hezel Associates’ research and reporting brought us new insights about the needs in the communities we serve.”
“A charitable organization like United Way must use its resources wisely,” said Dr. Richard T. Hezel, president of Hezel Associates, “so we were eager to develop a research process that would guide United Way leadership in its funding allocation decisions.”
