Hanley and Lacher Promoted Kerry Hanley was hired July 2007 as a research assistant in PK-12. She was promoted Feb. 25 to project coordinator. Her new responsibilities involve providing support with data coding, secondary research, participant contact and data entry responsibilities for both the PK-12 and higher education teams at the firm, also contributing to PBS TeacherLine on a regular basis. Hanley graduated with a bachelor's degree in peace and global studies from Le Moyne College. Anna Piacentini Lacher was promoted this month to research analyst. She was hired at the end of March 2007 as a project coordinator. In her new position, Lacher will direct the work of project coordinators and research assistants for PBS TeacherLine, as well as continue her close work with study participants. She also will contribute to data collection, analysis and report writing, and handle participant contact and web communications for the OCM Boces/SUNY Cortland Teaching American History project. Lacher graduated with honors from Messiah College and she is a member of Alpha Kappa Delta, the International Sociology Honor Society.
Our Work PBS Kids Hezel Associates just completed formative research for the PBS Kids Web site, Carnival Island. The purpose of this research was to gauge children's reactions to various aspects of the literacy Web site while it was still in development. Hezel Associates conducted focus groups with 23 children in Cairo, IL, Buffalo, NY, Boston, MA and Austin, TX. The Grow Network: Your Study Guide The Grow Network/McGraw Hill is committed to the successful implementation of the Personalized Student Study Guides Program and, to that end, has asked Hezel Associates to evaluate the effectiveness of the program in achieving the goal of increasing student achievement as measured by state assessments. In this project we are studying both implementation and student achievement in selected school districts. Our Ideas Hezel Associates is weighing in on education's hot topics.
